From the image on page 11, the Clara 2E uses a PR-284983N battery. No extra connectors, just the + and – on a regular jumper, and the ribbon cable at the left looks like it’s just connecting the top circuit board with the bottom one and they ran it under the battery, so it’s unrelated. This is the same 1420mAh battery used in a bunch of earlier stuff like the Kobo Clara HD, Nook GlowLight Plus, etc. I see it for $10 on AliExpress.

The waterproofing is a spray on the internal components like the Libra 2. That might cause grief replacing the battery even if you don’t care about waterproofing afterwards, though I doubt it.
