Second vicar, yea or nay comparatively speaking?
I was reasonably okay with the first few seasons of Grantchester. When Sydney left, though, under what I thought was a laughable pretense (for the show, I mean), I gave up. Couldn't relate at all to the "new" Sydney and the rest of the show felt very lackluster to me. The two actors could not be more different and obviously, that changes the tone and feel of the show. (And this is a show with Robson Green...you'd think that they could have done better!).

As far as your question about CofE--honestly, I can hardly recall anything particularly about the church, itself, even mentioned in Grantchester other than "oh, this will get you in trouble," and most of it was centered either around Sydney's relationship with someone, or the prelate's. {shrug}. It seemed as though the Church's entire focus was on preventing inappropriate relationships, or if the show needed a spot of tension, the Church would pop up. Honestly, it barely seemed to exist the rest of the time.

Others here may have more potent recollections than I.

@Diap: so the Phileas Fogg, etc. didn't work? Dang. I was hoping that it might have some legs, no irony intended.
