Amazon is being slow about fixing this. There is a feedback feature in the kindle device, and at this point I think the only option is to make frequent and liberal use of it.

Agreed. I don't think we should have to reset the device because each user has a handful of books (like 1-5%) in their collection that have an issue. That's not an acceptable solution to the problem.
EDIT: And maybe it's worth noting that this problem doesn't happen on my iPhone. That
always works fine...any problem I've ever had is always limited to Kindle hardware.
