I enjoyed the book and have recommended it to someone within the last year. But yeah, I wouldn't say it is epic or even intended to be. To me, it is more fairy tale than high fantasy epic and selling it otherwise is dumb.

But then I bought Stephen King paperbacks back when they were all sold as horror. Eyes of the Dragon and Different Seasons both had back cover text strongly implying there was some horrific stuff in there. I'm fairly sure they both leaned on the word 'evil.'
