Hmmm...
  1. run Kobo Desktop, download all new ebooks. Open calibre, run Obok, copy all new ebooks into calibre.
  2. Open Kobo web page. Go to My Books. Click on the Actions ( ... ) menu, download 1 book. Repeat as necessary. Open calibre. Add books from Downloads, Add books from My Digital Editions.
  3. Common - Update metadata, resize covers, run ModifyEpub on the batch.

Care to guess which one is faster and less error prone?

As for 'well known'? Well known by whom? Most widely adopted? Sure. Best archive format? You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to believe that your opinion is derisible.
