That is odd. It don't see how you could wind up with a personal document in KFX format without that option being set.

If any of those docs are in the public domain, not under copyright, you could copy the KFX file from your Kindle and post it here so that I could take a look to see what might be going on. (You will have to zip the file in order to post it here.)
