Thanks for the concern. However I tried the two places where I routinely buy epubs and they both work.

I guess I'll find out. I still have ADE to fall back on.

I suppose it's bloatware in the sense that I don't need the reader part, but then I don't use the reader part of ADE either. And since there isn't a stand-alone piece of software that just downloads the epub from an ascm file that's not a point in either's favour.

And actually the Sony Reader wine prefix directory is less than a third the size of the ADE one. But I'll keep both - why wouldn't I?
