What's happening is the sync stops at 'updating books' and stays there for hours or until the battery runs out. I haven't tried the idea of changing where I perform the sync, but it's set to sync automatically so sometimes I open up the kobo in the morning and it's out of battery from syncing all night without getting anywhere.
