I recently bought an Amazon Echo speaker, and would like to listen to books via the speaker. If I buy a second kindle, and register it to my Canadian Amazon account, would I be able to purchase ebooks from the Canadian site on it?
Amazon knows I have accounts in both countries, because when I buy a kindle from Canada, they preregister it to the US site for me. So, I’m not trying to trick them or anything. I just can’t find a policy anywhere on the site to see if Amazon allows two accounts for ebooks?
PS: or could I deregister one of my older kindles from the US site, register it to Canada, and buy new books on it?

I noticed you show you have a Kindle PW5. There is no such model.
There are ways to solve your problem.
The first thing to do is download all of your Kindle eBooks from the USA via the Download & Transfer via USB. Install the DeDRM plugin for Calibre from
https://apprenticealf.wordpress.com and remove the DRM. That will get you a copy of all your eBooks with no DRM. Once setup and working, you can remove the DRM from your Canadian eBooks as well.
Another thing to do is register a copy of the Kindle app to your US account. That way when you unregister your Kindle, you won't lose anything. But you will need to decide which device you won't be using the app other then keeping your content in the US. I suggest reading the thread on Kindoe for PC/MAC because that has a lot of good information there and you can ask about the app if you use Windows.
