What version of calibre portable are you using? Are you running Windows 10? Generally, the type of issue you are seeing is a conflict between the QT WebEngine code and your video driver. So the first recommendation is that you update your video driver if that is possible. If not, you may want to check the Viewer in 4.2 opens with only blank white page thread in the Viewer subforum.
