I just tested the developer factory reset on my Clara HD and it wiped it back to the factory firmware. A ~900MB KoboReader.sqlite file might have been the cause.

As for KSM? I'd suggest that if you want to use KSM, you should at least look at KSM 9. Otherwise, look at the One-Click Install Packages for KOReader & Plato which seems to be better supported at this time.
