I searched and couldn't find my answer. Sorry if it's already here. I'm at this a while and suspect I'm missing something pretty obvious.
Most books I have are in .epub, and I have set the behavior to convert to .azw3 as I prefer the extra format options available in Paperwhite.

Convert books button works fine to .azw3, however, if I just have an .epub and select > send to device, I'm prompted with "auto-convert the following books before uploading..." If I select okay, the book converts to .mobi and sends to the Paperwhite.

Obviously that's not what I want. I can't do it in two steps, but I suspect as I mentioned that I'm clearly missing something about this process. Thanks for your help. Again, sorry if this has been dealt with.
