The OTA is not the full System image though and so if you were to say go into the recovery and wipe system and not just factory reset it would be a blank device and you would need a firmware dump that some have done with the rktool.
Thank you, I didn't know any of that. Although the upgrade I applied before I did the factory reset was not OTA, and I think was supposed to be the full image. I got it from this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=690

Was that Twitter link in the post above not the full system image? Or perhaps just a rare occasion when it actually was made available? I am pretty clueless about this stuff and saved that download thinking I could just put it on my Mimas as update.zip at any point and it would update to that firmware, even if it's a reversion. Am I misunderstanding any of that?

Thank you for taking the time to clarify these things for me. I really appreciate it.

For anybody reading this thread and wondering about the latest firmware, I would like to add that the April 17th, 2020 update has been fantastic for me so far. Everything seems to be working great, and I love the new features - especially the new ZReader app which is so much nicer than the original built-in reading software.

I appreciate that Boyue has continued to update even the older models.
