Hot dogs are not sausage, nor are they intended to be, or marketed as such. Both have some of the most nasty meats inside, stuff most would never eat if it wasn’t ground up and hidden in a casing, But they are not the same thing at all. I’m not sure if other parts of the world eat American style hot dogs, but we also have more types of sausages here than I can enumerate. But we never equate hot dogs with sausage. They are considered two different things.
