No, $999.
It would be perfectly ergonomic as long as you hold it properly.
It would need charged x4 more often due to the thin alloy case, but no tweezers required.
The corners would be rounder, like the older Nook, who they'd sue.
It would have no sockets or buttons at all. A special touch gesture would wake it and it would charge from a mat. Which isn't cordless charging as the mat needs a cord and PSU. The 32 G Byte version would be an extra $100 over the 8 G Byte version (or is the Apple premium for Flash memory chips more than that?).
It would be waterproof due to the lack of buttons or connectors and the fact that it can't be opened at all. (See latest Apple ear bud battery replacement).
You'd also need the Apple Mac / PC /iOS store/cloud utility to download approved content. No sideloading / USB, which is almost true of iOS based gadgets. No way to put MP3s on an iPad / iPhone / iPod since ages without Apple software running on the PC/Mac for Apple Applications. Hard luck trying to install any 3rd party app on an iPhone 4s, though you can on older Android stuff.
