Why don't you just try it - it's a setting with three possible values that can be reset as needed - it won't corrupt your embarrassment of databases or their cornucopia of custom columns, however here's a spoonful :

Which tells me that the library has 3405 books with an EPUB…, 12 books with a ONE…, and 1 book with a LNK

The Manage Tags list has a count column which is sortable, it's the complete list, i.e. not filtered by VL.

If you press Shift+F2 on a Tags cell you'll get the Tags Editor which is also the complete list - you can remove/delete/expunge tags from here.

IMO you should never need open a calibre database with a 3rd party database browser.
