I had been reading this series and made a start reading the last book but after reading the first chapter, I looked at Goodreads reviews which confirmed it was a departure from the normal mysteries and that most of the regulars weren't in it, so I stopped and returned it to the library.

For me this series has been hit-or-miss. I like the ones that are set in Absaroka County and feature the Sheriff and deputies working to solve local crimes. The ones where they go other places and/or focus on Walt's family issues are less appealing to me. I don't want to read about personal vendettas.
