I found a less than ideal solution to the Nook issue. First download Chrome as the default browser is just a bit too flakey. Then go to Nook for web. You can read Nook books that way though is isn’t as full featured and the web experience, even with Chrome isn’t exactly thrilling.
Loaded up Amazon Music app and it works well though the looks terrible on this device. Tested using my Beats X wireless EarPods and they worked fine too. Volume is a bit lower than on other devices though, but good enough. I did notice with Bluetooth on, connected to the Beats, playing music in the background and reading, that the battery goes down a bit quicker.

Battery life won't be anything like an ereader. You should compare it to an android tablet since that's what it is. I just checked the battery life since I used it last and it only used .2% per hour for the last 8.5 hours which is pretty good. I always have wifi on, but have it set to keep wifi on only when plugged in. I don't use Bluetooth on it so I can't comment there.
I just installed the Nook app on my regular tablet to see how it works there before trying it on the Mars, and found that I have a $25 credit! It looks like it was from a gift card. I haven't bought anything from them in years because they are too expensive, and I don't remember getting a gift card. Thanks!
