Her Regencies are certainly romance novels, but on a higher plain than 50 Shades! They're quite witty, very well researched, and really delightful. She also wrote some 1930's era mysteries, but I found them less appealing. I would add that
I am not a romance reader. At all. But I find the Heyer Regencies appeal to me in the same way that Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster books do.
