You can upgrade to the latest version without losing your jailbreak, but there might be precautions you need to take first. That information is in this thread somewhere. This is the correct thread for the Voyage. Since you have such an old jailbreak, it might not survive if you don't apply the various precautions. I've never upgraded post jailbreak, so I have no experience with that and do not know the details.

Many people with Paperwhites and Voyages stop at 5.8.11, the reasons are in this thread as well, mostly having to do with KUAL.

The main thing is to not reset your Kindle ever now that it is jailbroken. The precautions mainly make it easier to get your applications requiring jailbreak working again.
