Comments section in the Metadata editor is where a 'Summary' typically ends up.
That said. The entire (standard) contents of the MDE is used by Calibre to construct the 'Jacket", which gets inserted depending on other settings (The default is yes): Conversions, Send To device. There are other tools (plugins) that allow you to 'force' this into the Library Copy (which does not automatically get updated when you make changes) Do visit the Plugin (sub forum) Index list
