EDIT: Looking more closely, I now notice that they all say "abridged". Is that common for audiobooks, or does that mean they are basically worthless?

Abridged is bad. Some people don't mind, but most do. Take
L is for Lawless for example. The full-length audiobook is 9.1 hrs and the abridged version is 3.0 hrs. They cut out 6.1 hrs, which is 2/3 of the book. Would you read the ebook if 2/3 of it were removed?
Edit: it used to be common to abridge audiobooks back in the olden days when they were trying to cram them onto cassettes and CDs. But now that we've switched over to flash storage, there's really no reason to do so.
