And are you using any patches? If you are, you need to remove them and check. There might be an unexpected interaction between patches or with other areas of the firmware.
In the meantime, you can edit the config file and set the reading progress option. Look for "bookProgressType". Setting this to 2, seems to be the chapter progress and 5 for full book. You can then change between page number and percent by long pressing on the page numbers while reading. With that, you can cycle between the available displays for the progress type.

H20 original version. No patches, no large print mode or any other nonstandard modes or hacks. (At least, I think not; I don't even know what large print mode is.) I see Page Controls, Page Appearance (Adobe Epub page numbers) and Water Detection. Language is English (Canada).
That's it. Page 2 is blank.
But your last sentence seems to answer the question: one can toggle between the various progress modes by long pressing the page numbers while reading. Maybe they took it out of the settings and made this behaviour the default.
