That said, looking at the pics of the Oasis 2 on here, I actually think the screen looks nice and even, not splotchy. At least to my eyes.

It's not always even a question of seeing or not seeing. I see perfectly well that my Voyage is rose-tinged and blotchy... when I look at it in a dark room. The same with my Oasis nr 1 and its cones. But the thing is, I never read in the dark, always in a well-lighted spot. The imperfections are not visible in my typical reading situation, and so I'm not bothered by them. Almost certainly I'm not the only person who never reads in the dark.
That said, I'm glad that the new Oasis seems to be much more evenly lit, even if it's not terribly important to me personally. But it is important to many people.
