What is especially annoying is that they shill all those unappealing books with a tagline something like, "Based on your reading, we think you'd like ...." Well, no. Based on my reading, there's not a chance in hell I'd like that book. The truth would be more like, "We're getting paid by how many people we push this suggestion to and despite our representations to the author or publisher, we can't be bothered to use the enormous amount of data we've amassed to target these selections in a manner that might result in some sales.
