Kobo's long weekend sales for US & Canada ending today, August 7th (it's the annual generic provincial holiday here), actually have some pretty nice stuff from the usual mix of Big 5 and small press publishers, with a few indie authors as well, with titles at $4.99 CAD or less.

A lot of it is probably also on sale in other stores, but there's also some Kobo-only discounts. There's a selection of cookbooks & artbooks from Abrams (who are usually sale-exclusive and have an unfortunate tendency to expire their prices at midnight UTC instead of Eastern Time), and a number of specialty press mystery titles such as from British publisher Orenda (dirt cheap at just 99 cents each for the latest translations of several well-established Nordic Noir authors and some newer British ones as well), and the usual Canadian small presses, and interesting topical histories from Earnshaw (East Asian British colonial period) and the Hoover Institution (mostly former Soviet Union-adjacent Cold War memoirs).

Canada sale main page, with categories: Fiction & Literature, Mystery & Suspense, Romance, Science Fiction & Fantasy (a Gregory Benford alternate history from Saga Press in here), Kids & Teens, Biography & Memoir (Jim Ottaviani's graphic novel biography of Alan Turing is on sale), Nonfiction, Food & Drink

US sale main page, with categories: Fiction (Laurie Andersen's The Boleyn King is an interesting-looking alternate Tudor history what-if, for which the sequel has been on sale; unfortunately US-only at the $2.99 price), Mystery & Thriller (Canada sale has many of the same titles and a much larger selection), Romance, Science Fiction & Fantasy & Horror, Food & Drink, Biography & Memoir, Non-Fiction, History, Teen Reads, Kids Reads
