So if your heart is set on the LG G6, why not just buy the higher priced one that is the correct version for $649. With the $300 credit, you're really only paying $349, which is $100 less than you were originally paying. Which is probably what Amazon had in mind that you would do and how they arrived at the $300 amount (just a guess on my part, but a $300 credit seems excessive even in spite of everything you went through).
Or if you want to take full advantage of the $300 as a pure gift, take a look at the LG G5, which I just picked up myself for $250 and is a superb phone (plus it has a replaceable battery, which is important to me), and it updated to Nougat right away. I got mine from B and H Photo though in New York when they had a sale (plus no tax when shipped out of state from B&H). They're a very reputable store with great customer service, I've been buying from them for over 15 years.
Whichever you choose to do, very nice outcome in any event. Good for you for sticking with it.

Yes, the credit is to make up for the higher price. I had purchased the platinum for $449 and that's $682 right now do it's a difference of $67. So it's not as large of a credit as it seems if I buy the phone. I was only buying it because it was such a good price though, so I'll wait to see if the price drops. I don't have my heart set on this phone so I can wait and get a little more from the credit.
