FWIW What I understand about authoring, publishing and proof reader(ing)
- Even the best authors miss their own gram-speller-ing errors. They get too close to the work. In otherw ords its hue man nurture to skrew thins up.
- Getting a book into its final, publishable form is the editor's responsibility.
- Proofreaders can be hired by authors or publishers; however, typically a publisher's proofreader contact list is deeper and better vetted than an author's. This is particularly true for new authors.
