I was going by what was written in her post.

Your link is to directions on how to select (or avoid) book formats, not about how to change them. You even close with a line advising that if the desire is to change the book format, a person needs to go elsewhere.
Much different than "I followed the directions to remove ..."

Probably the confusion was helped along by Amazon's practice of either not distinguishing the book format in a book's post or of not mentioning the same book is available in different formats.

Although I have seen in the book postings: "Author (or Publisher) instructs us that DRM will not be used on this book".
Even if the book format supported it.

Translation:
KFX format book does not equal: "book with DRM protection".
Although most posts here seem to imply that it does.
