I like to have backups, insurance, or whatever you want to call it of having every ebook in at least two formats. I am pretty well committed to Amazon, but I have a lot of stuff in both ePub and PDF, so maybe not getting the mobi won't be a big issue. And, of course, if I want mobi and another format, I've got to make a purchase of two ebooks, instead of one purchase with ebooks.com.

I found out that I made an assumption that I shouldn't have, and that my memory was faulty, about the ebooks.com formats. From ebook.com:
Although we suggest different formats for different devices, it is worth noting that some books are only available in only one format. Even if it is not the recommended format for your device, this does not mean that you will not be able to read the book perfectly well! Also the Online Reader is always another option.
What I haven't been able to determine yet is how a person can know if a particular book has two or just one format(s) included in the price. I'll keep looking around the website. There was an ebook that I was considering buying from them, in part because of thinking that I could get two formats for the price of one. If none of you guys responds first, I'll let the rest of you know what I find out.
