Never happened to me, before or since I installed AU. But I never upgrade to new versions of Windows until Redmond deems it fit for Enterprise use. For AU that was Nov/Dec, I upgraded in January. The upgrade solved a bug with 1511's WU and Office (mix of 2007 & 2010), otherwise I might have waited longer.

I have seen something like you describe, but it wasn't a Windows problem. Some sort of interaction between media players and the xplorer˛ file manager I use. I had to logoff/logon to clear, eventually I was able overcame it by disabling audio and video previews in xplorer˛ - which I didn't really want anyway. The xplorer˛ guy blamed Windows, but he did provide the registry entries to include/exclude file types from preview.
