Jailbreaking is pretty simple, any reason you don't want to try it?
For the PW1 (do you need to update your profile?) it should be as simple as downloading a previous Amazon firmware update and downgrading (depending on your firmware version, and you may not have to even do that), and then installing
the traditional jailbreak.
(Newer Kindles require a special factory firmware, which is pretty easy to install also actually.)
This is the only way whatsoever to manage collections without manually checking each and every book via the Kindle UI.
Although you can make the manual way slightly easier by copying each collection of book files as a batch and adding everything recent to the collection, that is still pretty time-consuming.
