Quite possibly. Reading is a solitary, foreground activity. If you are reading, you are concentrating on what you are reading, and not paying attention to other things or interacting with other people. (I've seen posters on MR commenting that they got a dedicated eBook viewer device because it
was dedicated, and would not offer the potential distractions from reading that a multi-function device would.)
I'm somewhat introverted. I can deal with social events when needed, and even enjoy them. But I'm fairly allergic to crowds and noise levels. I had to veto a suggestion made by a friend not long back that we get together at a local BBQ joint. I like BBQ, but the place was a sports bar with a variety of sporting events on big screen TVs and a high noise level. I like to be able to talk to folks I'm dining with without shouting to make myself heard.
When I'm not doing anything else, I'm reading. I tell people "I read anything that doesn't read me first, and a fair bit that does." I also say "The nice things about eBooks is that you don't call the paramedics if my To Be Read stack topples over on me!" (The TBR queue is in round thousands. If I could learn to read a different book with each eye, I
might at least slow its rate of growth...

)
While I like company, I don't require it, and I don't get bored when I'm by myself.
