Do you think perhaps you could be accidentally triggering the option - slide finger up/down left edge of screen to adjust light level? Now the screen is flush it seems to be more of an occupational hazard that it used to be with the IR recessed screens.

You can switch off this feature if it's causing you more problems than it's worth.
