That faux pas comes from the fact that I rarely buy a book from Google Play. On the other hand, I often go to books.Google.com/books to see if they have a digital book in the public domain that I'm looking for. I had a picture in my head that they were somehow going to put ads on the webpages pertaining to those books (which they don't now).

If I had read the O.P. that would have prevented my assumption, too.

If Google Play starts to assault us with ads while we're trying to shop with them, then what I said about Walmart.com holds true with them, too.
