I just saw this quote: "Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures."--Ralph Waldo Emerson

I would like to find the source (in Emerson's writings or orations) of that quote and see if he expands upon that thought. I might gain a better appreciation of the genre of fiction, including historical fiction.

But I never have thought much of Emerson or his buddy Thoreau. I should say, of their transcendentalism, not them personally.
