I do not know what threads you are talking about but you are very much mistaken.

calibre has not stopped working, working versions do not magically break and actual legitimate regressions are rare and usually fixed immediately after reporting. Depending on the breakage an emergency hotfix may be released.

The plugin system has not suffered a fatal regression or we would all know.

The calibre developer will sarcastically recommend people to downgrade calibre, if they complain about regressions that don't exist and then refuse to lisen to the help they are given. To date that has never solved a single problem, but the placebo effect occasionally makes them happy anyway.
