OK, so this was strange, I copied 5.7.4 .bin to the Oasis (which is on 5.8.2). I ejected it and checked to see if "Update My Kindle" was available. It was. I went to eat dinner. Left the Oasis naked without the cover or anything. The screensaver activated. When I woke it up the option to Update My Kindle was not available. When I connected the Kindle to the computer the 5.7.4 .bin file was gone.

I didn't check to see if it updated on it's own (sorry). I assumed it was still on 5.8.2. So, I recopied 5.7.4 to the Oasis and quickly ran the update (which did).

Do you suppose 5.7.4 ran on it's own or did 5.8.2 delete that .bin as well?
