Can confirm that my problem was fixed after receiving these 2 updates.
To be clear, my problem was that:
a) I was NOT getting the Connect message on my Kobo Aura HD after connecting it to my laptop (using the same port/cable as always)
b) Windows was not at all recognizing that anything had been connected (Kobo wasn't listed in the Windows File Explorer, no 'Eject USB' icon in my system tray, etc)
Now, I get the Connect message and, after connecting, I can browse into the Kobo in Windows Explorer and copy books over again, just like normal.
