USB cables are available that are 'power only' (no data leads) and they look just the same as the 'power & data' cables.

Hi, thanks knc1 but yeah that's not the case here.
(I tested with my other kindle just to double check, the cable is fine.)
It's the usb connector, I'm just lucky it accepts power, but yeah, no data. This kindle got a little damage to it, although it still works ok. (apart from this problem... ha)
As I said above, I thought it would be ok by using ";un password abc123" - but ssh still doesn't let me in. Was this functionality removed? I see some text quickly printed to the bottom of the screen when I enter this, so something must be happening.
I'm assuming the root user is still called root.

Possibly I disabled password auth in the usbnet config, and set it to only use ssh keys?
I can't see the the config file so I don't know if that option is even there... I forget.
Maybe resetting the usbnet to default (I see that option in the KUAL menu) - that would help? Although it might lock me out completely from this device, so I'm a bit worried.
