It is quite possible that your firmware was corrupt on download. Could you please verify the MD5 of the downgrade firmware image that you used? We have had others here with similar (though less serious) problems from firmware with an incorrect MD5.

I have noticed a few of those reports also.
@all:
We are planing a simple 'package' for each download what will help reduce the occurrence of bad files being used.
We can't make a use test the download, but we can make it easier if they chose to test it.
All part of the move to a different (commercial) distribution system, someday, RSN.
