Somewhat similar occurrence last night. Put water on the stove to make pasta, had everything timed perfectly. Listened for the sputtering lid about 10 minutes later and heard nothing. Went over to check, and here I had turned on the wrong burner, which was blazing hot, while my pasta water sits there still cold on another burner.
And I had everything timed to be ready at the same time, I just hate when that happens.
