It was short before returning the defective device to the seller. :-) I've successfully done a factory reset of the H2O with your autoscript.sh (the led blinking) from the external SD card slot. It works awesome. It was some kind of frustrating, yesterday to see the device in this "boot loop" and I don't have searched all the forum posts. With an autoscript.sh it should also be possible to start an other OS or applications?

I am glad it worked for you. As for the autoscript.sh you can do anything that is possible with a sh script that does not need user interaction.

Even though you installed "firmware: Kobo 3.19.5761 for Aura" from
here, the install mechanism does recognize which kernel to install and which to neglect. Your device was still runnning the H20 kernel.

If you search the kobo forum for battery drain, you will find lots of complains. In some cases the cause was found to be the sleep cover, in some cases an unreliable sleep function in KSM/KOReader. Many cases remained unsolved. Somehow it is a mystery. Many people seem never to experience this problem at all. I am one of those. Maybe I should add that I do not use much the sleep function of any application.
Maybe I should mention that one problem I see with the "mega update" is that everything is installed in one go. If you look at the first post of this thread, you will find that I recommend a two step installation for KSM in order to prevent nickel from failing to hang at start. I mention this in case you try to install KSM again.

Have a look at the
Index to the Metazoa firmware patches. You can find there detailed descriptions of many interesting patches. You will have to find for yourself what you "need." I for one am happy with the reading experience of the original software, so I usually do not use any of these patches. I mean, I am happy of how epub and kepubs are handled. For pdf I use KOReader.
