I get your point, Barry. Personally I am not that concerned, though. You say a lithium-ion battery typically will last between 500 and 1000 charges. Let's assume the built-in battery lasts only 500 charges.
I read about 6-7 hours with the built-in battery of the Oasis before I have to recharge it. So 500 charges with a minimum of 6 hours reading time give me about 3000 hours of reading.
Simple math tells me, that I could read 1 hour a day for the next 8.22 years.
Or 2 hours a day for the next 4.11 years. If the battery lasts 1000 charges, you can double the values.
That is a lot of reading time! I'm pretty sure I will own the next generation Kindle before the battery of the Oasis will be running out.
