That's what some authors on a message board were saying a few years ago. And one of the reasons it was phased out, becoming Romantic Suspense. I give credence to the idea since Harlequin did phase out the line which I doubt they would have done had it been selling well.

I think the fact that there were so many different types of stories: romantic suspense, small town romance, romantic comedy, international romance, etc. meant that many of the readers who subscribed to the various lines didn't like not being sure what they would be getting. Whereas I subscribed to the line for over 25 years and when it was SIM I loved it because of all the variety in settings and story types.
