You can turn off the haptic "clunk" and then it will be silent whether you use the page turns on the side or the touch on the screen. The clunk just helps me know in darker light that the page turn actually worked.
I am not crazy about touching the screen or making gestures on the screen to turn pages. I'd rather keep my fingers on the page buttons on the side and then just press lightly (you can vary the pressure from light to heavy in the settings).
For this reason I kept the K3 (and also because the K3 will play audio files, and use 3G on browser for emergencies).
