But for hardcover and paperbacks sold on Amazon, it's wholesale. Amazon can discount as much as they want.
Since Amazon can't discount ebook from the Big 5, they are doing it on hardcover and paperbacks to gain market share.
But at the same time, Amazon’s online print sales — driven by steeply discounted hardcovers and paperbacks, which in many cases were priced even lower than the ebook editions — ALSO went up.
