Thanks. I think I vaguely remember that discussion, but I can't recall the specifics. I presumed in my friend's case it was just because a code was already (sneakily) applied to get that credit so another to get discount wouldn't do.

I wondered if it's the same case now—and apparently it's a yes. NEWCUST5 is being automatically applied, and coupon doesn't work even if there are other [couponable] books included in that same transaction.

Clarifying for others that this is only for promo credits. You most definitely can use both your regular store credit and a coupon on your purchase.

Not for me. I use Chrome Canary. What a curious thing. Happens whether you're logged in or out? Like BookJunkieLI suggested, the latest Firefox (if yours is not) or a different browser might give you another result?
