If you can deDRM digital content or it comes without DRM, and it's in a lossless format, it's just as good.
For some stuff, there is no difference. It does not make a difference to me if I get a program or a game on a CD or as a download, as long as it does *NOT* require online activation.
For some programs or I make exceptions, if they're very cheap and I don't mind losing them at some point in time. In case of Windows, I make an exception because I just *need* that particular operating system at this point.
