That's probably the age demographic more than anything, right?

I suspect I'm not in their demographic either in that regard. I just don't care much about age appropriateness (with regard to what I want to watch).

These books were such a huge part of my teenage/young adult years that there's no way I'm not going to give it a shot.

The advantage I have going in, is that I don't really NEED the show to be anything: good/bad; canon/completely off the rez; LoTR/Not LoTR--if I like it, I like it. And if I don't... oh well. No harm, no foul.

I do think they're very smart to hedge their bets on the High Fantasy vs Post-apoc SF front, though. Should garner them a decent mix of fans of both--depending on how they ultimately play it.
